Stanbic
Bank has presented a cheque for 10,000 Ghana cedis and other sport accessories to
the Ho Tennis club as part of this year’s Asogli Yam Festival.
The
package forms part of the bank’s objectives to support and promote lesser known
sports in the country. The Ho Tennis Club and the Asogli festival according to Mr
Kojo Akoi-Larbi, Manager, Communications of Stanbic Bank, have for the past six
years been receiving supports from the bank in various ways.
“We
are proud to be part of this year’s yam festival. And for a bank that works
with people, we are happy to see healthy people working with us” he said.
The
presentation was made at climax of the 2015 Asogli Yam Festival Tennis
Tournament in Ho. The Ho tennis club emerged winners of the tournament sponsored
by the bank for three tennis clubs in the country. They won 6 games out the 9
in the tournament. Maritime Tennis Club from Accra won two games with TOR
Tennis Club from Tema winning just a game.
Mr
Victus Horlu, Secretary, Ho Tennis Court told citinews that the continuous supports
from the bank have resulted in active participation of members and increased
enrollment of new members. He disputed claims that the game was a preserve of
the elites in the society and encouraged the general public to join the club.
