Paradise Entertainment organizers of the upcoming Edem’s
concept in Dzodze, have disputed claims that they have marginalized local artists
in the area ahead of the event.
Some local Artistes in Dzodze where Edem and his VRMG crew
are slated to perform a show during the Deza Traditional festival have accused
the event organizers of ostensibly excluding them form the list of supporting
artists. One of them, Startic GH took to his Facebook page to condemn the organizers
and threatened to scuffle the event.
“#DEZA is for people of #DZODZE so if any
show organizer wanna bring some artist to our festival without putting any of
our upcoming artist to support the show, you must be joking, ..you can’t deceive us…the show go flop and
you will surly lose n lose again.. We
are not in the 1990s where Fame alone was enough.
.#StartickBeatzForever #Avenortogbor_medzea_tonu_o.. just watch out” he wrote.
But in a quick rebuttal the CEO of Paradise Entertainment,
Manuel Paradise downplayed the allegations. He explained that although he is entitled
to the discretion of choosing who performs on his show, he is guarded by his
homegrown policy of promoting upcoming artists. He said at the initial stages there were few
failed attempts to contact local artists in Dzodze thus their decision to come
out with few promotional materials while they continued to search. He added that he
later met a group called D4 and have agreed to put them on the bill. Manuel
Paradise said since D4 were not captured in the earlier teasers due to limited time it was agreed to
include them and any other artist that shows up in subsequent promotional
activities which include radio interviews and inserts for radio play.
He added he was taken aback when news went viral that he had relegated
local artists particularly when he is not even conversant with Startic GH and
his cohorts.
I don’t even know Startic GH and the others making the claims
but I feel they should have contacted me on issues or this sort. I know of Popo
and so I informed him that he would be on bill. If they think we aren’t not
promoting upcoming artists from the Volta region, why do I have JJ Gonami, Keeny
Ice, Ras Zewuze and others? he questioned.
He advised Artists’ managers to make their artists more
visible and accessible. He also admonished young and upcoming artists to live
above pettiness and concentrate on their young career.
“I believe in young talents but such posture by some of them
are undesirable. Why won’t they contact me first to hear my side of the issue
before jumping to social media” he said.
The show dubbed “DEZA with EDEM” would be held at the White
Dove Hotel in Dzodze on 3rd October as part of activities lined up for this year’s Deza (Palm
Festival) of the people of Dzodze in the Ketu North District of the Volta
region.
