Some
NDC supporters in the Ho central constituency of the Volta region are accusing
their Chairman Divine Feg Afedo of engaging in fraudulent acts and creating
disaffection for the party in the constituency.
In
a petition addressed to the Regional chairman of the party, two members of the
party, Mohammed Isaka and Joseph Attor, accused Mr Afedo of embezzling funds
meant for party activities and defrauding unsuspecting citizens, promising them
nonexistent jobs at the Ghana Education Service.
“Mr
Afedo, never accounted for monies meant for party work and has turned himself
to defacto-treasurer commandeering monies to consolidate the faith of the
branches in the Party.” The statement said.
It
further said, “… there are allegations that he extorts money from party members
with the promise of securing them with teaching appointment taking between GH¢
500.00 to GH¢ 1,000.00 from his unsuspecting victims who later gets to know and
are left to their fate but waiting to reject the party should he surfaced”.
The
petitioners say, the conduct of the Mr Feg Afedo if care is not taken would
affect the party’s fortunes in the 2016 elections.
Meanwhile
Mr Afedo denied the allegations when citinews contacted him. He says has been
transparent and accountable to his church and the NDC party in all his
dealings. According to him, he has never received money from any individual
with the promise of securing him/her a job. He added the allegations are
unfounded and are obvious schemes by his political opponents to taint his hard
earned reputation into disrepute.
