The Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic party Nana
Akufo-Addo and his running mate Dr Mahamadu Bawumia received a rousing welcome
in the Anlo constituency as they begin a nationwide “Rise and Build” tour in
the Volta region.
Hundreds of party supporters clad in party colours and
paraphernalia mobbed the presidential candidate and his entourage in excitement.
Nana Akufo- Addo on his arrival paid a courtesy call on the Awomefia of Anlo
State Togbui Sri III who also gave him a warm reception.
The Paramount Chief advised him not to see the area as a
stronghold of the ruling NDC and for that matter loath to visit or organize activities
there. He explained that as a custodian of the land he would remain neutral and
support all political activities in the area irrespective of the political
party involved.
The “Rise and Build” tour is aimed at providing a platform
for Nana Akufo-Addo to meet up with regional executives, constituency executives
and aspirants in the NPP Parliamentary primaries (both winners and losers) in
the regions he visits. The Volta region is the first point of call.
The residents of Anlo who could not hide their joy seeing Nana
Addo said electing him as the President of Ghana in the upcoming general
election would help restore their lost hopes and rescue them from the current
economic crises under the NDC government.
