The 14th edition of the annual Deza festival of
the people of Dzodze traditional area has been launched in Dzodze in the Ketu North
District of the Volta region.
Deza instituted in 2002, is aimed among other things to
rejuvenate the oil palm industry in the area and to institute development
projects to augment efforts of government for improve social life. It is also
to bring together citizens both home and away to foster unity for development.
It was launched on the theme; “14 years of Dzodze Deza
celebration: achievements, challenges, and prospects”.
Speaking at the ceremony the chairman of the central planning
committee Rev. Egbede J.K. Felli said the theme for the celebration is a wakeup
call to your citizens to visit their roots and initiate development in the
area.
The colorful event held at the old premises of the District
Assembly was well attended by chiefs of the various communities in the traditional
area, opinion leaders and persons from all walks of life.
The chairman also promised an exciting festival this year and
invited all and sundry to witness the occasion.
“Various interesting activities would spin through the entire
celebration from 25th September to the climax on the 3rd
of October. Your Chiefs and Elders have pledged to provide a trouble-free land
during the celebration. We invite all and sundry to join celebrate the 2015
Deza. Come experience the culture dexterity of our people” he said.
