Miss Portia Besseh a 17 year old first year student of Anloga
Secondary School (ANSECO) was on last Friday night adjudged the winner of this
year’s Mama Deza of the people of Dzodze Traditional Area.
An event which saw eight beautiful ladies contesting for the
ultimate crown had the youngest among them walked out of the A-Plaza hotel in
Dzodze with the pride of a peak cock as the Queen for this year’s festival.
Despite the black out and the rains which characterised the
night, citizens and their visitors defied the odds to attend the event as the organisers
(Mike Multi Media and the Festival Planning Committee ) unwaveringly provided an
alternative power.
A host of musicians; home and away thrilled the audiences
with various performances as the ever versatile Citifm’s Kingnobert Akpablie steered affairs as the Master
of Ceremony (MC). A senior political science lecturer at the University of Ghana
Mr Stephen Ahiawordor among other dignitaries who attended the program could
not help but burst into laughter at the tickling and rib cracking jokes by the
chief comedian Jeopardy.

Agyemang and the 18 year old final year student of the same school came as
first and second runner up respectively.
The excited queen said her focus would be on sanitation
issues in the ketu north district capital.
‘’As the country is battling with the cholera outbreak now, I would pay
more attention on sanitation in our area to bring a lasting solution to this
annual ritual’’ she said.
The pageant show which is one of the highpoints of the annual
Deza festival by the people of Dzodze is aimed at celebrating womanhood and
projecting the culture of the people. Deza is a Palm Festival celebrated by the
people annually on the first week of October.
