Some students and teachers in the Ketu North District in the
Volta Region had their first day in school spiced by donations from Wise and
Solace Foundation local Non-Governmental Organization committed to creating
educational and social needs of children in deprived schools.
The donation which was motivated by the organization’s
desire to rejuvenate students and teachers in deprive areas to defy the odds by
equal footing with privileged schools in achieving academic excellence was made
possible in partnership with Base Pharmacy; a pharmaceutical distributor in
Accra.
The beneficiary schools which included Afife EP and RC
primary schools as well as Eleme Sovie DA School were donated with pens,
textbooks and diaries valued at a cost of 1000gh.
Presenting the items, the founder of Wise and Solace
Foundation (W.S.F) Wisdom Sena Agoha said there was a growing concern about the
falling standards of education in the region and that there was the need to do
more to salvage the situation. He added his organization was committed to
creating educational and social development opportunities for children in
selected deprived communities in the region and called on well-wishers to join
hands to push this agenda. He pleaded with the teachers to wholeheartedly
sacrifice in making sure that the children have the necessary support to enable
them have the best to become responsible citizens.
The teachers and pupils who were visibly excited applauded
W.S.F for the gesture. Mr. Cletus Defu
on behalf of the headmaster called on other stakeholders to emulate the
gesture.
