Volta regional chief imam has passed away




The Volta regional chief imam Alhaji Hamza Danjuman Omar has passed away on Saturday 3rd August, 2013.
According Salifu Hamza the head of the Hamza family, his brother was receiving medical attention after being taken ill a few days earlier. He explained that although the chief imam has been struggling with diabetes, his death was shocking especially in a period where they are performing Ramadan (fasting) which is one of the five pillars of the religion.

In accordance to the doctrine of the religion he was buried the next day Sunday August 4, 2013. Present at the funeral were the deputy regional minister Hon. Francis Ganyaglo, Mr. Koku Anyidoho former director of communications under Mills administration, members of the Zongo community, the clergy and the general public.
The chief Imam last public appearance was on Friday 26th July, 2013 exactly a week ago when preached to the faithfuls on death’s inevitability. In his sermon he revealed that anyone could die at anytime including himself.
In his tribute, the former communication director of Mills administration Koku Anyidoho says the imam was a brother, a father and friend to him upon arriving home over the weekends and hearing the news, he deemed it a moment to pay his last respect to the man who has contributed immensely to the peace in the region.
The youth were called upon to imbue the peace-loving nature of the late Imam as befitting tribute to him to foster national cohesion and peace.
