Disaster volunteers of Ghana (DIVOG) a Ghanaian
non-governmental organization that builds global partnership to empower
underdeveloped rural communities throughout the country on Friday August16th
2013 inaugurated a 3-unit classroom blocks with office and store for the pupils
of Mafi-Gborkope in the central Tongue district of the Volta region.
DIVOG over her eleven years of existence has
worked in the local communities to develop sustainable solutions in education,
health and sanitation.
Collaborating with Volunteers For International
Development And Aid (VIDA); a USA based not-for profit organization, over the
years provided the people of Mafi-Gborkope a JHS block, a four chamber urinary,
books and stationeries to some deserving students. Additionally the school has
for the past two years benefited from in-service training organized for some
teachers and other teachers of in the catchment areas.
The most remarkable feature of the presence of DIVOG
is the scholarship award instituted to help brilliant but needy students of the
JHS to further their education to tertiary.
The headmaster, of the school Mr Jackson Tatra was
very grateful to DIVOG and VIDA for the great works they have been doing in the
school and appealed to them to continue their good works.
Present at the ceremony was the chiefs and people
of the community who expressed their sincere gratitude to the district assembly
for supporting the NGO’s to complete the projects.
