LAUNCHING OF THE GHANA URBAN MANAGEMENT PILOT PROJECT

The vice president on 7th of may 2012 launched the Ghana urban management pilot project in Ho following the need to ensure proper planning of our towns and cities.
By adhering to the policy guide line for house numbering and street labeling which he inaugurated in Accra on  recently ,this project would help easily locate houses and streets in our cities.
Over 40 million Euros according to the vice president have been so far put into this project.
The beneficiary cities are ho , tamale, sekondi takoradi and Kumasi.

These cities would benefit from this project improved infrastructure amenities and drainage system.
Explaining why Ho was selected to be the venue for the launching of the project ,he said Ho happens to be the only municipal assembly among the three metropolitan assemblies, promising the people of government’s plans to upgrade the  municipality into a metropolitan status during the project.
He also assured the people of government’s commitment into ensuring that the eastern corridor road project comes into light.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, the vice president Dr John Dramani Mahama debunked statement from critics on the impossibility of the government s in the completion of projects on the University of Health and Allied Sciences assuring the people of its feasibility. He also paid a working visit to the university site.
His Excellency the vice president also made mention of plans underway to construct marine landing sites in some coastal towns in the country of which Denu and Keta happens to be beneficiary towns.
Present at the ceremony were the French ambassador to Ghana, road and transport minister,joe gidisu, Hon,Isaac kotobisah, the Ho MCE,traditional leaders,market women leaders, personnel from the security service and the general public.
