Volta goes on social media to demand from government a sports stadium promised them

A group of young sports enthusiasts and journalists in the Volta Region have launched a social media campaign to demand for the construction of a new stadium promised the region.
The Group calling itself Media Forum believes the Volta Region has over the years been neglected in terms of sporting facility development in Ghana despite endowed with enormous potentials spanning through various spectrum of sports.
The two standard sports stadia in Ho and Kpando have not seen any major facelift. The Ho sports stadium has been closed down to undertake self-help refurbishment, supported by individuals and corporate institution.
Eric Eli Adzie, a sport journalist with GBC Volta Star Radio told Citi Sports though a site was initially designated for a new stadium, they were later told Government has acquired a different land to put up the new stadium in Ho.
“When Elvis Afriyie came to town, he went to inspect the old land. Kofi Humado did same and people were asked to move from the site for works to start. The people relocated only to wake up one day only to be told government is moving to a different land. Now developers have started building on the old land. The new one too has not been properly acquired; the land owners were only identified. Over ten years now nothing is being done”.
The group has therefore launched a social media campaign which is to start 10: am today [Tuesday] with a hashtag #VoltaNeedsAstadium to drum home their demands.
