A total of 1,507 Students that took various Higher National Diploma
(HND), Competency-Based
Training (CBT) and Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) courses in Ho Polytechnic were
on Saturday graduated at the 15th Congregation of the Polytechnic in Ho.
Out of the 1452 HND and B.Tech graduands, 38 obtained First
Class Honours, 529 obtained Second Class Upper, 793 Second Class Lower and 92
went home with passes. From this number
13 graduated in B. Tech Automobile Engineering, 14 in B.Tech Agriculture Engineering
and 5 graduated in B.Tech Hotel and Tourism Management.
In his speech, the Rector of the Polytechnic Prof Emmanuel Sakyi
hinted that, the Polytechnic through supports from stakeholders rolled out
projects aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills in the institution. He indicated that thirty-three (33) academic
staff are currently pursuing further studies whereas various collaborative programs
are being ran with some reputable foreign universities to help position the
Polytechnic as a global player.
“The Polytechnic was successful in entering agreements with
some external institutions to run collaborative programs to promote
internationalization of the polytechnic. The partnership involve : ICT
University, USA; Tshwane University of Technology, South Africa; Lahti
University of Applied Sciences, Finland; Central University of Technology,
South Africa; Information Training and Outreach Centre for Africa; Vellore Institute
of Technology, India and Africa Global Sister Cities Foundation. Attempts are
also being made to establish links with Pulaski Technical College, USA” he
said.
The Council Chairman of the Polytechnic and the new
Vice-Chancellor (V.C) of the University of Education Winneba (UEW) Prof Mawutor
Avoke exhorted the graduands to present themselves as worthy ambassadors of the
Polytechnic in all endeavors.
“We are proud of your academic achievements and share in your
joy and excitement on this special day. It is our hope that you become enviable
ambassadors of the polytechnic wherever you find yourselves” he said.
